Recently, National Ministry of Education Internationally Coordinated Laboratory of Plateau Area Regional Highly Prevalent Cancer Research which is under the charge of Prof. Yunchao Huang - the president of The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University ( Yunnan Cancer Hospital) received the approval of construction from National Ministry of Education. It is an prominent platform and also the first platform of Yunnan Province got the approval of Ministry of Education for vocational international talents' training, and developed towards the direction of international science frontier and to fulfill great strategic demand nationally. It converges global innovation power and resources, carries out high level basic research and translational study. The Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University as well as Kunming Medical University has been preparing for this laboratory for several years, they fully took the advantage of our rich plateau area regional etiology cases and plant resource, coordinated with the oversea highly professional teams, so as to build a clinical and scientific research oriented, talent training and discipline construction centered experimental platform. 

       The approval and construction of “National Ministry of Education Internationally Coordinated Laboratory of Plateau Area Regional Highly Prevalent Cancer Research” meets the strategic need of national “One Belt and One Road” policy and regional economic and social development goal in Yunnan. It also meets the need of cancer prevention and control and Yunnan People’s urgent expectancy to health and well-beings. Based on the previous research, the laboratory seeks to resolve the high cancer incidence problem in some areas of Yunnan Province, and it carries forward original studies on 3 orientations: plateau area regional highly prevalent cancer clinical research,etiology and mechanism research, transformation and application research. Strategies, measures and approaches were made to deal with our local cancer diseases, the laboratory aims to providing support to early prevention, early diagnosis and early treatment work, decreasing morbidity and mortality of cancers with high incidence, providing scientific basis for regional economy development and government decision-making, expanding the research methods and results to the relevant health field, and providing reference and guidance for the plateau disease control and prevention work all around the world.
